    Decertify union

Can't union members decertified their union and save over $1000 a year?

    I know I would.

    • They will have to petition to decertify at the end of a contract and if your considering this you better tell CAT right now because I'm sure their going to make plans to move those jobs and you could change their mind !

    • In the years the pension funds were "overfunded" the corporations skimmed off the top and handed out bonuses. Now that "underfunding" is an issue...well. I think someone should go to jail over the wreckless management of workers pensions.

    • While I have no particular love of unions, they do keep wages up for the working class.

One of the co-renters in my unit in Subic Bay, PI, was 35 years GM retired. He said GM laid-off 2000 workers (who made around $25/hr) and hired new workers for $12/hr.

Now, the bench mark is $12/hr. In WA state (Seattle), that's about $2/hr over minimum wage.

      Careful what U wish for.

      • you folks dont realize what is ACTUALLY happening in America. The major corporations (international in scope) are trying to bring down the wages in America to match those of overseas companies...So I ask you , DOES ANYONE FEEL LIKE BECOMING MEXICAN OR CHINESE???

        just a thought.
you know in Germany, EVERY WORKER GETS TO VOTE ON WHO SITS ON THE BOARD OF THEIR COMPANY. NOW THATS DEMOCRACY...WE LIVE IN A THEOCRACY!

      • Times have changed.
In the past union leadership got alot of credit for hard fought labor gains that were only possible because of America being a pretty much leader in supplying the world and our own economy.
This was the case for several decades following the end of ww2.
As these other world economies grew the pressure to be a supplier diminished along with the influence of the labor movement.

In my opinion I would like to see union negotiated labor contracts replaced with something like an independent national labor board to determine set pay and benefit levels for each industry.

I would leave local work issues and representation to be decided by members of each facility with leaders that are strictly voluntary.

      • Cat has wages like that approved by the Union too
They are lucky they are not at minimum wage though
Unskilled work is...not worth very much these days
