There needs to be a balance in the debate or one side wins everything. Taxes need to go up, but don't we need some spending constraint? Buffett said it perfectly this morning. Taxes and spending have historically been 18.5%, 21.5% of GDP, respectively. They're currently 15.5% and 23.5%. Get them both back to historical levels and economic growth will take care of the delta. Pretty simple. Raise taxes, rate or loopholes it doesn't matter, and cut SS and Medicare. Every study says the same thing. Get on with it.
