    • Technically it looks like it is getting close. RSI is close to peaking for the last 12 months. At the same time there could still be another 1-4 points upside left in the tank. Looking for an intra-day reversal on heavy volume. Open Interest for Calls vs. Puts for next Friday's expiration still looks bullish so be careful if you plan to short or buy Puts.

    • I think the post here makes a lot of sense. Craperpillar is coming to an end soon. $96 a share is ridiculous. This is a great company no doubt, but nowhere near worth $96. $80 at best.

    • I defecate on your effectuate......

    • Nobody on this board will know what the word "effectuate" means. They exchange extra cash for outstanding shares. Increases the ownership % of all remaining shares. They've spend almost $9B in acquisitions over the last two years. What exactly would you have them do with the free cash flow instead of buy backs?

      Sentiment: Hold

        To bring about; effect.

[Medieval Latin effectuāre, effectuāt-, from Latin effectus, an effect; see effect.]

I'm always in favor of increasing one's vocabulary!

As far as scammed's point, he's contradicted by the quarterly reports, which show substantial cash flow. If this is all through accounting fraud, why aren't the external accountants showing it? And finally, Enron shows even effective fraud, with collusion of the auditing firm, will bring down both the firm and the auditing firm--quickly. You've got to pay the bills. Enron couldn't; Cat does.

        Sentiment: Buy

      • I see you are busy making new friends Richie!

      • you, richoncat, are probably thee most pompous and arrogant person I've ran into on these boards. Why are you so unhappy? Seriously, everyone deserves to share their opinion.

But while you're asking questions tonight, let me answer your: "What exactly would you have them do with the free cash flow instead of buybacks?" question..

How about hire back the 30-50k+ workers they've let go in the past 6 years? Rumor has it, most of the talent CAT has remaining are looking for work elsewhere and rightfully so given this downturn ahead of us. With morale at the current levels and workers more concerned about next week grocery bills, childcare, alimony, etc. etc.., I certainly WOULD NOT trust the integrity of any equipment produced in the last 12-18 months.
