Sea of Okhotsk/Rosneft deal is a money maker

the sea of Okhotsk has similar tectonic, stratigraphic and geological process attributes to the southern end of california's San Joaquin basin (Bakersfield area). This area is bordered by the San Andreas fault on the west. The source rock is deep water, Miocene porcelainite (Monterey shale) Multiple fields 2b boe exist in San Joaquin valley anticlines. prospectivity of Sea of Okhotsk indicators include spike in atm ch4 due to breakdown of methane hydrate after last month's earthquake.

    • YUZHNO-SAKHALINSK, Russia, July 16 (Reuters) - Top Russian oil producer Rosneft said it expected to confirm resources of around 14 billion tonnes of oil equivalent at new fields in Russia's eastern offshore zones, providing crude it could use to supply Asian markets.Rosneft President Igor Sechin, standing on an oil platform at Sakhalin-1 with senior ExxonMobil executives, told President Vladimir Putin by video conference that exploration works were under way at some of the fields. Rosneft is planning to explore 20 exploration blocks, sited offshore in the Okhotsk, Laptev and Chukotka seas, in bilateral partnerships with Exxon Mobil, Statoil and Inpex of Japan.

    • yes, it is time for patience with STO- the deals in Russia now including Rosneft in the northern and eastern oceans of Russia, as well as inland shale prospects, leave STO with a nice share with a great partner. Who knows what will come of these deals, but the idea is money. Now is fundamentally the time to accumulate STO shares near 20 dollars or maybe even less. Once the oil flows from new oil and gas prospects, or sooner, the stock will probably bounce back, right??????

      • July 1 Rosneft starts field seismic prospecting at the license blocks Lisyansky, Kashevarovsky and Magadan-1. Rosneft holds geological study at the blocks jointly with its partner Statoil ASA (Norway).Currently 2D seismic along with shipborne gravity magnetic survey are planned for the blocks. The data is to be collected by geophysical methods from a specialized research vessel Academik Fersman. The works will cover a total of 10,000 linear kilometers: 5,300 km on the Lisyansky licensed block, 2,000 km on the Kashevarovsky block and 2,700 km on Magadan-1.Environmental and fishery research are to be performed at all the three blocks in 2013 by LLC Environmental Company of Sakhalin, a contractor for this work.
Another planned environmental protection measure is studying the subsea wellhead of the Khmitevskaya-2 well drilled on the Magadan-1 block in the 90's.The field stage was preceded by large-scale preparation, i.e. detailed assessment of the planned works' environmental impact and receiving the necessary regulatory agency approvals. This preparation has been completely finished.
