    Mozambique news pending

    June 14, 2013
Statoil ASA (STL) and Tullow Oil Plc (TLW) are finishing a wildcat well on block 2 that is attempting to make the first commercial oil discovery off Mozambique. The well is 125 miles south of Anadarko 80TCF natural gas find in the Rovuma River Tertiary delta complex. Statoil's Cachalote well is drilling deeper than Anadarko's tertiary find and is targeting oil in Jurassic rocks. In the Jurassic Madagascar rifted from Ethiopia and moved south while east Africa broke away from Gondwana. The Cachalote-1 well is expected to be finished in late June.
