Approx 1 week ago They tried fooling me into buying a $129.99 tea pot! Now I don't think that thing was worth $10.
Anyway the tea's are really good though. I bought an iced tea in a cup for $3. Now that guy tried selling me tea for over $20! I said, "oh no thanks ill never make that much." Well, I love going there to get some tea, but the workers there are very lazy and want to gouge too much. Teavana really needs to step up their tea bar to accommodate more people buying iced teas. Everyone will eventually find out that making tea at home is harder then it looks.
At Starbucks the workers know they have to work hard and make you a cup of whatever you want. They NEVER asked me to buy something I never needed to begin with like bags of coffee etc... The point is people don't like getting hassled all the time when some people just wanted an iced tea.
I wouldn't be so concerned, TEA has created a very nice niche for itself. I do see consolidation coming in coffee sector, and wouldn't be surprised if TEA were one of them in the future, 2-3 years. There is a lot of upside.
