Denver will beat the 49ers at home today and the Jets will take care of the Raiders at home as well, and the AFC playoff scenario will be set. The Ravens are the only team that has a chance to beat the Pats.
Who would you place your money with in a playoff game Phillip Rivers or Tom Brady? In pressure situation Tom Brady is a proven winner.
I am in my Brady jersey today. Yes, Brady is much better and great under pressure but who is better at making a key catch under pressure Gates or anyone on the Pats. Our top receiver is Troy Brown(???) or a couple of stiffs off the practice squad. If Rivers has a bad game the Charges can still win. If Brady has a bad game, with the exception of the Bears, it's real ugly.
The Pats line backers are a liability at this point and even more so if Wilfork is out (he missed the last 3 games with a bad knee but he maybe eating himself out of the league).
Bruschi is a hero in NE but he is losing a step and is not making any tackles this season (the ones he does make are as the guy goes by him) and Vrabel is not nearly as good as he was 2 years ago.
I don't think the Pats have the speed to catch Tomlinson. If LT can get though the Defensive line or run to the outside (the right side is the weaker side) the end zone will be the only thing to stop him.
1st week it looks like Jets @ Pats and KC @ Indy. I think KC matches up real well with Indy. KC should be able to run the ball all day and Ty Law is a good DB against Manning from his days with the Pats. I could see a KC win (I would also like one) so KC would play SD in the 2nd round if NE wins.
The Jets through some real good and interesting defenses against the Pats but hopefully we saw their best and will study that to konw end.
As for money on the game, my best case is NE vs. SD. I have the Pats at 4-1 to win the AFC and SD at 8-1 to win the ACF. I would have taken both teams to win the S.Bowl but the odds were 7-1 and 15-1 (AFC was favored across the board at the begining of the year so I went with just the AFC). It is not real money and barely covers the cost of my tickets next week but fun nonetheless.
