urgent help from options traders on the board needed
i'm turning to all on the board who recently bought the march calls. i tried to do so myself yesterday but my trading account does not have a web-based interface for options trading so i called an employee and e-mailed them the options list from yahoo. however they seem to be unable to buy these options.
the worst he told me: i need a valid code to enter - and i can't find these options on 'reuters'. so what is going on? in germany i know that most stocks rather have numbers then "ticker symbols" and it seems to be the same with options.
so does anyone by chance know how i can still get into the options game on monday?
the tax issues involved did drive me away from some other pretty good investment vehicles which is really sad. there are some awesome investment boutiques in switzerland with some pretty cool ideas and impressive returns, but the tax issues involved with non-registered funds is close to a nightmare. you would have to tax non-realized gains every year even though you did not sell it ... crazy stuff.
about 2 years ago i was thingking of opening an account with schwab, back then the regulatory issues drove me away so ...
regarding USD risk - currently about 50 % of my holdings are US traded and denominated - the rest is in euros. however many of my plays somehow would benefit if the exchange rates would dramatically change - like EZPW and the price of gold and ABM.L
as the chinese slowly appreciate their funny currency against the USD, chinese investments offer 2fold return oportunities: 5-10 % of currency appreciation and potential 50 - 100 % return on the stock.
i'm just not sure that opening an overseas account only for options trading is really worth it. i probably should first test my ideas with a sample portfolio. it was only urgent because of the price drop in ezpw the last days.
having no other way out - i bought another 1200 shares today.
thx but i know all this. the problem is that the ticker symbols for the options used in the US are basically worthless here in old europe. i have my account with a german bank and US tickers don*t help here.
so i gave the guy from the bank the ticker of the underlying stock and sent him the screenshot from yahoo options page. he promised me to call back once he knows how to buy them into my account but never did on friday or saturday.
stuff like ULPCV.X does not help whith europe based trading systems. so i'd need help from someone who has once fased the same problem. does anyone know of a site where ticker symbols can be "translated" into our european style numbering system?
