    Online loans? Mexican refurb electronics?

Let me be the first on this board to say that it doesn't sound like EZCorp is playing to its strengths here. Online lending, in particular, seems to be putting the company right in the path of the CFPB when a recent desirable theme in corporate evolution was staying in areas where changing regulations were unlikely to cause trouble.

    • Madison Square has to keep up the acquisitions to keep growing the company (and their fees). Actually, in some ways Madison Square is a positive because they will push for the company to keep growing profits so it can pay their fees.

Also, I look at acquisitions like this as a positive. If these acquired companies have some new businesses or new methods that EZ can roll into its current business, it could improve EZ's core business. Overall a plus.

I disagree. The economy is changing - meaning improving. There is a Macro change in how customers are dealing w/ Gold. EZ must adapt - and as people get jobs, they become eligible for payday loans online or otherwise. This is again, a growth market, where Pawn was before. Stats expansion you deal with crazy state legislators, and online the CFPB - pick your poison....

The Mexican deal, I have no idea, but looks like dipping a toe in....

        Sentiment: Hold

    • I agree.
