It would seem to me that the Zierings would be far better off selling DP to a company like Agilent (The test and instrument division that Hewlett Packard is going to spin off) than to hold it. A company like Agilent, with its large sales force, name recognition in the medical field, and reputations for quality should be able could greatly enhance the sales of DP products.
You're probably right that a big name could move DP products well. I don't think Agilent is likely anytime soon, though. Does anybody know when HWP acquired it's last test/measurement/medical company? It seems like that's exactly the reason for the agilent spinoff - too much focus on computing to do justice to test/measurement. They've got their hands full with the spinoff right about now, probably not going to do acquisitions real soon. Granted HWP did do a lot of acquiring in this field in earlier days. - Joel
Although this stock is extremely illiquid, it's interesting that 150 March 30 calls traded today. You can never be sure exactly why this occurs (speculation, hedging, etc.), but it could mean something. Also, anyone want to venture a guess for the recent move up. Earnings were solid, but it took a few days before we saw a move. Any more takeover rumors flying around out there?
