Do not let emotion control your investing. Your comment told me that you can't even read the message. A by-stander is a person who point at an old man and a boy and a dunkey. A by-stander is not a person who "shorted" MAGS. A 5% Div. of outstanding shares means a 5% more dilution. It looks like you have 5% more shares ( in term of money, if MAGS is @$20, it seems you are holding a $21, or in other word, you now have 200 sharesm at some point in August, you will own 210 shares). Nothing changed in statistical sense.
Stock climbed more than $2 today? Is 5% Div. worth that much? If MAGS is $15, a 5% is only 75 cents. Even if MAGS is $20, a 5% is merely a dollar? It looks like market over reacted. DJIA climbed 70+ points this morning, now it is off 100 point from that. MAGS will be down to earth too later. It is only a matter of how soon you take your profit. For MAGS it is always the case for the last 2 months. Those who hestitate to sell when there are profit in hands, loss! The name of the game. I am no long or short, just a by-stander.
