Thats a good question.Actually two. Personally I like statues myself and had one of ST. Francis in my backyard on a pedestal when I bought my house from the previous owners. This thing weighed a ton and was on pedestal. I let it stay there since i was born in a hospital called St. Francis(Catholic). Then I got afraid it might fall over onto my little kids and crush them. So I moved it but it fell on the ground. Somewhat wierdly, the face sheared off perfectly leaving a faceless monk. To me, that was a sign not to worship plaster and cement. I left the pedestal there with nothing on it. At that point I remembered reading somewhere about the ancient Hebrews having an empty altar which signified God is everywhere, invisible, all, infinite, undescribable. I'm not Jewish but I kinda liked that empty pedestal after that. Really made me think. As far as stigmata, I believe it may be psychosomatic caused by deep empathy with the wounds of Christ which is OK I guess.
