Eventually prescribing Vancocin over Fida will be malpractice

If you took 1,000 people with CDI and gave them all vanco and took 1,000 people with CDI and gave them all fida, there would be 45% less relapses in the fida group.

    With me so far?

Since a certain percentage of CDI patients die, how many lives will be saved with fida?

I expect this analysis to be discussed in ID journals and even JAMA or NEJM within the next 12 months.

Fidaxomicin will save lives when used instead of vancocin. For this reason, anyone selling now is clinically insane and needs to be on tour with Charlie Sheen.

It will be malpractice in a couple years to prescrive PO vanco instead of Dificid.
