    Monday...Dragons spit more fire

We got a little spoiled by Avatar, then Alice. Dragon is really doing very well at Imax. As a comparison, here is an Imax blurb from the second weekend of Christmas Carol:

" ...announced that Disney's A Christmas Carol... grossed $2.9 million from 182 IMAX(R) theatres domestically during its second weekend from November 13th through November 15, 2009. The IMAX release registered 13% of the film's total domestic second-weekend gross of $22.3 million on approximately 3% of the screens. The film's domestic IMAX total is now at $8.7 million.

Internationally, the film's second-weekend IMAX gross was $635,000...bringing the film's IMAX global cume to $10.2 million."

Per the Imax website, Dragon did $3.6MM this past second weekend domestically, $1MM internationally, and $13.5MM global cume through Sunday, for a similar number of screens. So, we're well ahead of Carol which ended up with about $30.3MM for Imax. $40MM for Dragon would be pretty good.

Imax's percent of the total box is staying strong, too. 13% for Carol, 12.5% for Dragon (2nd weekend), the small drop is explained by the fact that Carol did less overall business. Imax % always goes up as the total box comes down.
