<<That's a debate we want to be in the middle of.
Nolan's decision to shoot the next Batman in Imax is a very big deal. Its unclear to me whether all of it will be in Imax, or parts of it. And if its parts, how much?
Can you imagine if Imax became the standard format for tentpole movies? The stock would be worth hundreds of dollars.

The Dark Knight had about 20 to 25 minutes of scenes filmed with Imax cameras. To fully appreciate it you needed to see it on giant screen Imax. There are now fewer giant screen Imaxes in proportion to the others. I don't think studios are going to encourage filming with Imax cameras because it is so difficult--the cameras are big and noisy. Maybe some director will come along and say that he wants to film with Imax cameras and he also wants the movie to be in 3D. This and only this can encompass his cinematic genius and he does not care what it costs. The studio moguls can eat less to make up the difference.
