under compassionate use? Is it? Why do we not hear of US doctors demanding and using the filter? Do US doctors not care if their patients live? Perhaps Fresenius has a filter add-on (top secret) to their dialysis machines that is being used in the US? I keep hearing it takes time; #$%$, how many more thousands have to die before this gets some momentum? Just asking! I had a very good friend die of sepsis. 65 years young; dead in 6 days after minor prostate surgery. Needless to say, this lawyers wife is suing bigtime, adding to our Obamacare costs.
Early on they addressed the cost of getting this approved in the US. Europe was cheaper to get approval. That is a problem in this country as we are inventing these things and have to bring them over seas because of red tape and the maze of approval.
As far as compassionate care I believe they have to show a clinical trial of some success prior to that being possible. Seeing how no trials in the US other than the early 5 or 10 person trial there is nothing to go by. On one early PR release they did say at some point they could use results in the EU to speed things along. Anyhow this is my understanding.
