I have added more here as well. This is turning out to be a long term play. EU, Asia and US sales will in the 400 million range by 2014. You can take that to the bank. I have seen this drug in action. It is no joke; it works. IT IS NOT a GOUT treatment, but reverses DISABILITIES caused by treatment refractory gout which costs millions to treat via hospitalizations, drugs that won't work, etc.
i think some might disagree about what you say Krystexxa does and doesn't do. It treats "gout". It's going to be used for TRG because its very very expensive, when cheap uloric/etc will often work instead. When they don't, Krystexxa is the last resort. But there will be a lot of last resorts in this population. From the FDA label:
Mechanism of Action
Krystexxa is a uric acid specific enzyme which is a recombinant uricase and achieves its therapeutic effect by catalyzing the oxidation of uric acid to allantoin, thereby lowering serum uric acid. Allantoin is an inert and water soluble purine metabolite. It is readily eliminated, primarily by renal excretion.
