What if they never announced anything? The earnings each Q were released, and then they answered questions. Those that put the work in to learn things, would then have an advantage. I like being able to have an advantage. It is not an unfair advantage, as anyone can do it.
Wouldn't bug me if you could only trade stocks 1 week before and 1 week after earnings date only. It would simplify the process, and cost a lot of jobs is the only negative. Those that don't like what they see would sell the week before, those that like would buy or hold. Those that like after earnings would hold or buy, and those that don't think it can continue would sell. Would remove the constant stress that leads so many on a daily basis to error from panic for unknown reasons.
The whole system would be forced to become more intelligent, instead of this continual digression in the pool we have now. Charts would become, well remain what they currently are, worthless. Let's see: did the charts forecast a war in Israel would be good this time around?
This stock basically only trades with meaning the days surrounding earnings, with the occasional customer win announcement anyway. Why it is one of the easiest to play if you have 3 months worth of patience.
