In 2010 we lost .37 per share

Heck of a floor for any that bought at $2 or $3 or $4 or $5 ... strong dividend ... nope, just a pittance of its former self.

Dwindling asset, dwindling distribution, dwindling principle.

Now on the other hand the market has been on fire the last 2 years pretty much anything you bought ... a $5.31 investment Dec 2008 which yielded 40% at the time ... is now $29.88 and has increased the distribution twice and still pays 7.7% ... just one small example of the many available

Always best to bury the dead and do it quickly ... FWIW, JFs folly cost me a bundle before I followed this advice.

The major exchanges all had quite a few candidates, if you were watching. For instance the NYSE with my VNR purchased 12/31/08 for $5.31 and paying, at the time, $.50 per Q.

Also happens to be a tax advantaged distribution. Closed the prior day of my post at the stated $29.88 and currently pays $.55 per Q.

Have a number of them in my folio and passed on many that were available during that time frame. Even stable defensive stocks such as BGS (again NYSE) could be had paying in the neighborhood of 18% and available in the mid $3s (closed at $13.44 today).
