MA has been referred to as a "10 bagger"

    noticed your post

MA is a credit card company, not a "financial" subject to
interest rates, hence, its "defensive nature"

Cramer had to explain this on one of his shows

    • Just my 2 cents. Full disclosure. I'm short. Have back and filled my position over the past 6 weeks. I'm up and I stay in the black up to $114 on my short.

      I'm not covering....yet.

MA is a great company and I appreciate the "safe haven" analogy being made here. In a way, it is a consumer discretionary company, more then a straight forward financial. It's a bit of a info tech co. as well....if you will. I got murdered in my position in Global Payments (GPN)recently. Again, a transaction company in the mold of the old Western Union. Just took a piece of the action. Credit card transaction processor and money order/mover. Big internationally.

Please, don't tell me MA isn't subject to the whims of the financial/credit environment. If this market swoon continues and the recession word keeps cropping up then MA is vulnerable.

That being said, I still see MA not going much lower than $90....but not likely to see new highs anytime soon. Market is poopy. MA has held up pretty well, which means until it falls, this market swoon will not be over. In an up market all garbage floats. In a down market even the babies get thrown out with the bath water. Now how's that for using two hackneyed cliches?

Your not to bright either, Western Union is not a transaction processing company, its a money transfer company. 300000+ agent locations, more than Starbucks, McDonald's, Wendy's, BofA, Chase, Wells Fargo, and Burger King combined (not even close, get the point).

GPN has a small money transfer business, nothing close to WU, maybe 2% of the total market, that might be high, anyway, I can see why your short MA, you don't do any DD, your gonna get clobbered.

Full disclosure, in @ $42, sold half of my position @ $116, still have a sizeable position in MA.
