You will see the stock price reduced by approximately $.41 on the opening on Tuesday, Dec 29th, the ex-dividend date. You will receive the dividend on or after January 25th, 2010, the distribution date. Date of record is Dec. 31st.
Therefore, if you want the dividend you must buy on or before Monday, Dec. 28th and have the trade settled on Dec 31st (T+3).
General speaking, when the day distribution is paid then the stock price goes down per the amount of the distribution.
