Symantec Corporation Message Board

Earnings look decent but almost surely loaded

There is no way Symantec executed out of the blue as reported in the midst of all that has been going on in the economy, clearly there is quarter loading going on with the many subordinate management worried for their jobs under the new CEO. Next quarter is going to be hurting as a result. Will be interesting to see how many people get lured into this... Anybody who believes this company suddenly turned around on a dime after 8 years and has now executed in this current macro environment should buy some swamp land as well.

Something is clearly amiss here folks, DO NOT BE FOOLED.

I'd expect a short lived pop and for wise money to exit, institutions hyping and distributing to the little guys who don't know better.

    • Do not be void of common sense. Does anyone honestly think this company suddenly turned itself around on a dime after 8 years of consecutive failure? And in the midst of countless other large cap techs missing and guiding lower, and declining macro environment? If so, you'll deserve what you probably get in the end.

Already I can see a cash collections discrepancy that seems to contradict the direction of the alleged revenue. And a $200m buy-back at lower levels which is going to effect EPS.

Give this some time, need to sort through the report and conference. Although as I mentioned just an hour or so ago, there is the job-fear-factor at play no doubt, which is what I'll be looking for indicator of in terms of quarter-loading by the new CEO's subordinate managers because they likely leveraged year-end IT budget-flush deals already, which is just kicking the can down the road.

    • Or maybe you are continuing your consistent trend of being wrong? That is probably more close. These guys are finally making some progress. Either get onboard or get out... and you really should stop responding and commenting on your own posts... guess you need to do that most of the time since no one else will respond.

      Sentiment: Buy

    • I think I speak for most on this board when I say this: Everything you've said has been wrong. And this seems to keep happening over and over. So why should anyone listen to you again?
