SYMC missing physical/virtual security appliance compared to FEYE ... May have to buy FTNT to fill the vaccum ...

It looks like FEYE with its acquisition of Mandiant, has left SYMC with a black-eye and SYMC has a big gap/vacuum when it tries to pitch against FEYE ... SYMC seems to be lacking a functional/optimal physical/virtual security appliance ...

Now SYMC probably have two options ... dissolve into oblivion or buy out FTNT and step up to the plate ... but does SYMC executives have the sense to relize that and have the guts to act ... may have to wait and see ...

FTNT has a proven ans successful FortiGate physical / virtual appliances that provide security and networking functions, including firewall, VPN, application control, antivirus, intrusion prevention, Web filtering, anti-spam, and also WAN acceleration ... and area where SYMC is having a big handicap ...

    • Some valid observations. However Symantec is suffering a technology and IP handicap that is larger than just in the area of security appliances with regard to FEYE. It would cost upwards of nearly $5 BILLION to acquire FTNT. That would not be an accretive deal so shareholders would incur quite a hit and Symantec still will not have fully plugged the competitive gap now created by the FEYE / Mandiant deal.
