Just a few paragraphs you might want to read:
Companies of every stripe should now focus on how to use social media techniques to win the battle for user attention in their particular markets, and to defend against competitors and new entrants.
This doesn’t mean that every company should seek to replicate or topple Facebook. Instead, every company must think hard about how social media models might endanger or, alternatively, provide new opportunities for their business assets and models. As I’ve written before, ripe opportunities lie in education, customer service, entertainment, and community.
There’s no longer any need to worry that Facebook, Groupon, LinkedIn, Zynga or other social-oriented startups will change the world tomorrow—but there was never any real chance of that. But don’t make the mistake that so many companies made a decade ago after the dot-com bubble burst. Don’t think social will go away.
Over the long term, the question about social media is not whether it will change communication, collaboration, commerce, entertainment and media. It will inevitably do that. The real question is: Who will harness social media most effectively to do so? And, those who choose to ignore social media will inevitably be relegated to the trash bin pictured in the snide graphic in Saturday’s Times.
What REALY confuses me is that LinkedIn hasn't made a profit in over 4Q's & trading above $100 but yet GRPN does make profit, improves growth, expanding, etc.... & trading mid 4's?? Like I read yesterday, doesn't add up, & that is TRUTH.
There have not been "more positive articles". You're deluding yourself.
GRPN stock is not, repeat, NOT rising. Stop saying it's rising. It's down over 75%. This is a simple and unarguable fact. You cannot keep on saying something that is patently untrue and expect to be taken seriously. GRPN's stock is NOT RISING. It is massively down. Fact.
I'll stick with my notion that Groupon isn't going anywhere. Is the stock down? Yes, why, cause its part of the game. I feel it will come back up & remain the leader within its competition..
