The Stansberry SEC case is a classic example of government overreaching. Stansberry published a very good report on nuclear fuel processor USEC a month before they announced a supply agreement for uranium with Russia. The SEC then sues Stanbsberry claiming that he hurt his subscribers by publishing the information with the wrong timeline!
The case is infuriating to anyone who loves free speech. It's just another example of how government "regulators" are increasingly corrupt and owned by the companies they regulate. It's like the guy at UBS who reported US tax evasion overseas. Did anyone at UBS go to jail for that? No. Who went to jail? The guy who handed the information to the IRS!! The IRS sent the whistleblower to jail and let off the firm and its employees who helped to hide the accounts overseas!
