    • This is an anticipatory move by CLDX as they set up the marketing/distribution system for rindo- not earthshaking in and of itself at this point, but when you put the pieces together (hiring of Director of Sales in '12, Director of Marketing in '13, evidence of increased buying by elite hedge funds currently!) it all adds up to very positive prospects for CLDX (imo).

    • Even though I am long on CLDX, I would not think too much about the "Marketing Director" position. These would be more telling:
+ Sales = If there were to be sales, they would be getting a Sales director.
+ Business Development = This position would be in charge of setting up a partnership, or at least opening the doors.

A marketing person is likely to setup the branding and the buzz behind products, and get the message out there .This position would not be in charge of going into clinics and selling, neither would this position be in charge of fostering connections to partner.

      Sentiment: Strong Buy

    • seems early for Rindo marketing director, but perhaps not if they may want a jump on things to ensure smooth transition from clinic to market OR could it be that 011 has jumped Rindo and is now lead commercial product via conditional approval? This is within the realm of possibility, but would be OMG surprise with huge upside for stock (not to mention great for oncologis and their triple negative cancer patients)!

      Sentiment: Strong Buy

Marketing Directors are typically hired by biotechs when their first product is still years away from a New Drug Application.

Take Ariad for an example. Marketing director was hired in November 2007 to lead the launch of ridaforolimus that had just entered Phase III. The NDA was submitted four years later in October 2011 (and rejected in 2012).

Just wait, the more ballsy companies will even start hiring a sales force before data are in.

    • I guess there could be a small possibility that the FDA will allow Celldex to market cdx-011 while running a phase 3 at the same time.

    • The job description for Marketing Director:

"Responsibilities include managing key strategic and operational marketing activities to ensure optimal global commercialization of our lead program. The successful candidate will develop and oversee the disease education plan, commercial launch plan, product positioning, brand development, KOL engagement plan as well as pricing, reimbursement and market access plans; liaise with corporate communications for advocacy planning; and develop and manage the product budget. Other responsibilities include managing external vendors, overseeing market research and identifying new partners that bring value to the organization. The Marketing Director will hire, manage and develop marketing team members."

Note: "OUR LEAD PROGRAM" That can only refer to Rindopepimut. CLDX is going to go it alone with Rindo.

Does that mean a partnership has been signed for 011?

      Sentiment: Strong Buy
