A new article from Los Angeles Times’ Science blog reports on a study in JAMA Pediatrics that found that breastfeeding may cause increases in IQ. The study followed 1,312 mothers and children from a group in Massachusetts called “Project Viva.” Researchers found that the, “longer moms exclusively breast-fed their babies, the better those children did at age 3 on a vocabulary test, and at age 7 on an intelligence test” but found no connection between breastfeeding and non-verbal intelligence. These findings, which researchers believe show a causal relationship between breastfeeding and IQ, have spurred scientists to urge for the destigmatization of breast feeding.
I ALWAYS SAY....breast fed is best fed..what stigma??!!
