450 workers this week?
I know they wanted to make room for those left so they could get Obamma-care..right libs?
and the Banking Industry in Mortgage has laid off another 25,000...if housing is so robust why pull back people count?
So you truly think that Obamacare is responsible for the Mayo clinic laying off 500 workers? Please explain.
I can tell you that a republican friend of mine that owns a business will be putting his employees in the exchange. He blames it on Obamacare. When I asked him if rates were going up faster than before, he accepted they went up about the same as in previous years. What he will do, when he moves his employees to the exchange is HELP Obamacare because he will help grow the exchange. Do you truly believe that if a Republican wins the next Presidential election he is going to take downn Obamacare? and replace it with what?
Frank, Obamacare is not perfect, but not because it is a takeover, it is imperfect because it DOES NOT go far enough to address the healthcare mafia (hospitals+insurance).
Please explain how Obamacare is responsible for layoffs. This should be interesting.
HILLARY will own this me$$ as a Bill Clinton Defacto enlistee... as he was PROMOTING BHOcare on TV yesterady w/ the POTUS....she always was foe UC and she gets her wish...the Voting Public will have the final say...2014 will be interesting and 2016 will be downright BEDLAM!
The Mayo Clinic ITSELF is stating that the reason for the layoffs is Obamacare:
An Ohio clinic that was touted by Obama while he was speaking on health care reform is now blaming ObamaCare after it was forced to cut $330 million from its budget.
Fox 8 reports the Cleveland Clinic, which is the largest employer in Northeast Ohio with about 39,000 workers in the region, announced the cuts to its 2014 budget at a meeting Wednesday.
A spokeswoman for the clinic tells Fox News the clinic is being forced to cut back to prepare for increased costs and decreased revenue under the health care reform law.
These changes will include offering early retirement to approximately 3,000 employees, reducing operational costs, and then layoffsas needed.
The Cleveland Clinic will offer early retirement to 3000 employees who will be notified in October in an effort to cut costs. Possible layoffs may be in order. This is getting ugly, but apparently this news is not reaching the ears of the Golfer in Chief and others who support the Affordable Care legislation. Perhaps the legislators will get around to reading the content of this legislation and understanding what is contained within the 20,000 pages of regulations.
WALMART cutting Inventory for Q-3/4..that is NOT a sign of GROwTH folks more like stagnation going into the Holidays and BELT TIGHTENING because people are CONFUSED over BHOcare and the Government shutting down(unlikely)..it all adds up to people are NOT BUYING SQUAT!
GDP will be markedly down....job creation still floundering at best... therefore going into the 2014 elections we are giving the Dems just enough F*ing rope to hang themselves....
TAKE BACK THE SENATE IN 2014!
Presidency in 2016!
The healthcare industry needs to cut overhead. If Obamacare is to blame, so be it. The healthcare industry has been gouging the American public for far too long.
As for the banking/mortgage industry, there was no way the refinance craze could go on for as long as it did. It is not surprising that there are layoffs. The demand to refinance is no longer there.
If Obie care is so good, why does Barry have to link arms with Bill Clinton to help him re-sell this program? Why does he have to spend millions on an ad campaign to sell the virtues of this albatross? He got the bill passed, so why does he have to sell it again? Maybe because even the Annointed One Himself does not understand its content, let alone the average citizen.
hcougar, I worked for one of the largest health insurance companies in the U.S. If I recall, insurance companies are required to spend 85% of premium dollars on health care expenses.
I just hope the Government takes away the money they give hospitals every year for caring for the uninsured since ACA requires everyone to have health insurance or pay a penalty. I'd venture to say that the amount the Government reimburses hospitals each year is more than a couple billion a year.
