Special dividend of $1.20! Well, isn't that special.

    • That's going to lower the stock price... at least theoretically.
You pay taxes on dividends, not on unrealized gains.

    • stock would be down 10% or more on the miss and guidense cut all across, they are managing stock price instead of business

      • Don't do us shareholders any special favors. You missed #'s and guided lower. How about keeping your special dividend and getting your business back on track? I use to love Guess clothes but for the last year they looked like crap. Bring back the old style. This new stuff I wouldn't be seen dead wearing. It's going to take me years to break even on this stock. It's up after hrs but it wont last. The shorts will have a field day with those #'s.

        Sentiment: Hold

      • Yea.....I don't own or trade GES, but I do trade the sector with GPS, so I watch GES. I find it interesting that company's like COST and GES are willing to lever up using the debt market and then pay special diviends. To me it means that: 1) Management once again will get most of the benefit with the least amount at risk 2) That management is more afraid of the upcoming tax increases than they are having more debt with what many believe is a recession or at the very least, a very slow growth economy as far as the eye can see. 3) That growing and hiring more workers is going to become much more expensive, so we will act accordingly.
