It has been several years now since the Pappas brothers took over Luby's and ruined it! When they first took over they were putting out #$%$ for food so I stopped going to Luby's as it was a hit and miss situation. Apparently they learned a lesson and returned to the tried and true Luby's recipes and the food is now pretty good. However, to eliminate jobs several years ago hey did away with the "Tea Cart Ladies" and the people that cleaned the tables. In their place they now have Red Shirted "Servers" that are annoying as hell. These Red Shirted "Servers" are a paid server's wage which is well below the minimum wage. Because these Red Shirted "Servers" refill your overpriced Iced-tea and hide the condiments so you have to ask them for them expect a tip which may bring their wage to equal the minimum wage. In short with this change the Pappas brothers have shifted the wages of the former "Tea Cart Ladies" and Table Cleaners on to the customer. One other #$%$ while I'm at it and that is paying at the end of the serving line. Of course this change was to eliminate yet another job, that of the cashier. Now you pay at the end of the serving line and while everyone is paying cash and receiving their change or trying to get their credit card to accept the charge and then sign the charge slip everyone's food behind them is getting cold.
I agree completely with you about the MUCH more than annoying "servers" and the hiding of the condiments. It makes me feel like I am obligated to help pay the salaries and getting nothing in return except high blood pressure.
Paying at the end of the serving line does not bother me.
LET'S HEAR THE OPINIONS OF MORE LUBY CUSTOMERS ON THIS.
