Anyone explain why futures volatility is non-existent?

I get that. I tend to make the same mistakes again and again (I lost a few hundred yesterday going long UVXY for an afternoon day trade) so finding a way to reinforce your strategy is something I need to do. I have been doing well trading TNA lately and shorting this POS but the gambler in me makes me stray from time to time.

    Good luck!

    • I try not to think of this as gambling. In fact, I view it as the exact opposite and see this as my career and my income, even though I'm not a full-time trader yet, but I plan to be within a few years. My strategy mainly consists of shorting VXX or buying VXX puts as I know this is a high probability trade. I never go long VXX or UVXY unless it's to protect my short positions. I also write weekly options to bring in weekly cash flow. My goal is to make a mere $500-1,000 a week and I see it as additional income on top of my current working salary rather than easy money that I won gambling. Eventually, I will increase my target weekly earnings to say $1,000-$2,000 a week, but for right now, I'm learning to ignore greed and be humble and patient. But I know how hard it is to keep that gambler's mentality away...
