Confirming our belief that it is one of the highest-quality and best-managed contract manufacturers, Jabil Circuit (NYSE: JBL - News) announced better-than-expected results Tuesday for the May quarter. The outlook wasn't too bad, either. After declining for several quarters in a row, sales were up 3.5% sequentially, which contributed to a full-percentage-point jump in the gross margin from last quarter. Most of all, we're encouraged by signs that most of the firm's key end markets appear to be stabilizing. With the notable exception of telecom equipment, which has fallen to less than 20% of sales, all but two of Jabil's eight business segments were up sequentially.
