Lattice Semiconductor Raises Revenue View for 1st QuarterLast update: 3/19/2013 6:23:15 AM

Lattice Semiconductor Corp. (LSCC) raised its revenue view for the first quarter, citing customer demand strength in the communications and consumer market segments. For the quarter, the chip maker now expects revenue to rise about 6% to 8% sequentially, versus its January projection for a decline of 2% to 4%. However, Lattice also cut its gross margin view. It said, due to the higher expected revenue contribution from the communications and consumer market segments, gross margin for the quarter is now expected to be at the lower end of its prior guidance of about 54% plus or minus 2%. Lattice, which makes programmable logic chips has reported four straight quarters in the red, blaming languid industry-wide demand. In December, it had warned that results for its fourth-quarter--for which it later reported a loss--would be lower than anticipated due to weakness in the communications end-market and the global distribution channel. At the time, Chief Executive Darin G. Billerbeck said the company had seen broad based weakness across nearly all end markets and geographies, except for the consumer market Shares closed Monday at $4.77 and were inactive in recent premarket trading. The stock has dropped 25% in the past 12 months.
