When I bought stocks for the first time (about 50 yrs ago) the adage was "buy on the rumor, sell on the news" with the CC tomorrow, my question now is " is today's action news or rumor?

today's action is pretty much a market wide sell off...due to a number of things....fed minutes being released...reported hedge fund going under possibly.....

Agreed, the stocks taking the biggest beating are mostly the ones that have had a big run up and people are taking profits, as they should.
