Newcastle Investment Corp. Message Board

    Split

If we look back at all the info and misinfo when the split was first announced, many on this board had a bunch of different opinions. Fact is none of us really knew anything. I guessed, at the time, the split would come at $10.50 based on the projected dividends (NRZ $5.50 & NCT $5.00). I later changed that to $12.50 based on the CR presentation and the numbers Welker used (NRZ $ 6.60 & NCT $ 5.90). I now simply believe everyone (traders) are jumping around on rumors hoping to get an edge on the split and in reality no one really knows anything but the guys in the smoke filled room. That's why the bumps. Now the rest of you take your best shot, because I know nothing.

    • CR numbers and Welkers' Presentation in Mar. might just turn out to be true.

    • We're within 10 days of the stated end of quarter spin off announcement. I personally don't believe we'll see that announcement for a few more weeks yet as we don't know what possible SEC holdups or rejiggering of the spin off may be occurring. Usually delays of major events for companies have a negative connotation and investors (especially those who jumped on the bandwagon late) tend to panic and bail. The word from the company was they had always "hoped" to have this event ready by the end of the first Q. Even after the announcement, there will probably be at least a month before the spin off occurs. Interesting times ahead.
