Don't you just love it when you pick a dividend stock (NCT/NRZ), that appreciates? We're winning two ways, with growth expected both in the dividend and the SP. This is one of the best feelings in the world.
I laugh everytime I look at my old baseball card collection collecting dust...It's barely worth 5-10% more than I paid for it all originally and you'd have to find someone to buy it...I wish I'd had the sense to put $10-20 a week into AAPL in the 80's because we played games constantly on the Apple II's et al at my school and friends house (He was rich and had 2 apple computers...) If i had done that I would have over $3.5 mil right now. ..Instead I have about $2,600 worth of cards that cost me $2,500...
Back in 1963, when I was a tot my father told me he had gotten a tip on a stock and I should put some money in. It was a cheap ($1.50 share)mining stock and as I was just beginning my work career I opened a brokerage acc't and bought a whole 100 shares. A couple of months later I got a notice I had received some shares in another company related to the original (a spin off). This went on for about a year, when, at that time I had 6 different companies with varying amount of shares, totaling over $4,000 (which was a fortune to me in those days). I told my boss about it and asked him what to do. He said it sounded very fishy and to sell the whole lot, which I did. A month later I got ANOTHER spin off from the original, and in another month another spunoff compay, I was told I had to return both as I wasn't the owner of the original any more. A great introduction to investing and a great moral:
"WHEN YOU ARE GETTING SPINOFFS FROM A COMPANY, ALWAYS, ALWAYS HOLD THE ORIGINAL COMPANY" .As NCT is, the gift that keeps giving.
