    HAL missed, SLB won't

In my opinion, HAL missed projections or at least missed the number to make the stock fly.

I don't think that happens with SLB, I think SLB beats handily and the stock flys! We'll see 73-74 tomorrow! Easy!

    • GROUND---

I see where the confusion came in, and I apologize about the AZ being too hot comment.

My ORIGINAL post read "HAL missed, SLB won't". (period)

I added the "Yes it DId" in response to a post by Ferdiefor, who said HAL did not miss.

So I can understand your confusion, I apologize!

Good Luck today!--I'm LONG SLB as well!

    • also the conference call is scheduled for tomorrow at 11:00 am cst for HAL .(strange)
may be they want to see what SLB does in their conference call which is projected at 9:00 am tomorrow along woth the earnings announcement.

    • i think HAL didnt go higher because they didnt beat the earning estimates by too much like they did last quater.
nevertless they did beat the street by 4 cents.
the eps the street was looking for was 87 cents anf they reported 91 cents.
the earning estimate that is taken into account is the projections of most big name analysts that cover that stock on regular basis.
so for this quater most analysts had projected 87 cents profit per share. or the mean of their estimate was 87 cents.

    • agreed

If it beats, its going way up...but if it misses, watch out below for some profit taking. I dont think it misses

    • I own both and HAL did not miss. Investors like you who suggest a miss because a stock doesn't fly are part of this market of momentum or bust. All that can be said is HAL was ahead but not enough to satisfy momentum investors.

      • Sorry to say HAL missed. There are more than ONE estimate and the high estimates were at 99 cents, which HAL MISSED by 8 cents!

You "investors" need to learn stocks rise and fall on expectations and when expectations aren't met, the stock falls or maybe stays even, temporarily.

That doesn't mean HAL won't head higher in the long run, it just means they didn't beat---THEY MISSED!

A Miss is a miss is a miss---This one missed, but I'm in it for the LONG run!
