I know an employee who works for St. Jude. He/She shared with me how the management for years used the SSO (Scientific Sales Organization), which is part of the CRM/USSD, to pay physicians to get pacemakers and ICD's implanted.
He/She told me of one of the Sales reps had raised a stink about the use of studies as a sales tool, and how it was a violations of Kickback Laws. He/She also had raised concerns about how all sales reps were violating the ADVAMED policies and management promoted ways to buy business.
This rep was subjected to a very hostile environment after reporting this to corporate and even had his life threatened by a manager for going to the general council. After reporting this to the corporate lawyers this same rep was subject to continued retaliation.
General Councils answer to the issue was to send out the e-mail to make it look like Corporate Officers, ie..Paul Bae, were not in favor of the way business was being done even though this guy, Paul Bae was one of the first to know what was going on.
