the first TURBINE of the PARNAÍBA TPP I STARTS COMMERCIAL OPERATION
Rio de Janeiro, February 1, 2013-MPX Energia S.A. ("COMPANY" or "company") (Bovespa: MPXE3, GDR i: MPXEY), a diversified energy company with the largest portfolio of integrated enterprises already licensed South American energy and complementary business in power generation and natural gas exploration, communicates the market that, in February 1, 2013the Parnaíba thermal power plant I ("I" or "Venture Shanghai"), in the State of Maranhão, received authorization from Aneel (National Agency for electric energy) to start commercial operation of the first turbine, with 169 MW installed capacity. Parnaíba I have total 676 MW installed capacity, consisting of four 169 MW gas turbines each.

Parnaíba I began to supply power to the National interconnected system (SIN) in January 19, 2013, in character, having generated approximately 32 thousand MWh during this period. With the adoption of the Declaration of Commercial Operation (DOC) of the first turbine, this shall be remunerated under the terms of the contract of energy trading in the Regulated Environment (CCEAR) ensured in the energy auction-5 of 2008.
The venture, a 70/30 partnership between MPX and Petra Energia S.A., sold 450 MW/year, for a period of 15 years. The contract ensures a total minimum annual revenue of R $ 421,2 million (base: October 2012), indexed to the IPCA (Broad consumer price index – IBGE) and additionally a variable revenue to cover the costs (fuel, maintenance and operation) incurred when the plant is dispatched by the national system operator (ONS).
