Tri-City Herald article on Friday states that the government is considering sending waste from certain tanks to a "commercial plant offsite" to be solidified. Perma-Fix is the only commercial facility in the area!!!
Not sure whether to expect a major bump on this news or not. May not see one from here since the leak was reported in local news on February 15. Probably got the bump from this news travel on Thursday before settling down on Friday in spite of formal West Valley announcement.
Although not saying that Hanford announcement was contrived in face of looming sequester, every government sector has got their "nuclear" issues. Whether it's radiation in waterways, collapsing infrastructure, protecting our borders, every agency can make some valid case for bearing the brunt of the sequester. At the same time, a little belt tightening to reduce bloated government salaries and benefits and egregious profits for government contractors isn't something that can be completely avoided.
Therefore, could be wise to take a somewhat cautious stance -- especially ahead of PESI's 4Q12 earnings announcement (whenever that will be). PESI will be fine ($1.50-$2.00 long-term). Not concerned with delisting.
