For mREITs, are they paid monthly, quarterly, or annually? Also, once dividends are paid out, does that drop the stock price by the dividend amount? Newbie here. Thanks for your help and info guys. Take care and have a nice weekend.
Assuming that your question is valid, you will
learn more by doing research than by using this
message board. Most of the answers are not entirely accurate, because the 'stock market' is
an auction market. The price of a security fluctuates, as do the dividends paid out. There
are no guarantees. By law a reit must pay out a
certain percentage of their income. Thats one of the reasons investors purchase reits. In any
event, you can find out most of the answers to your questions by doing a bit of research. The main difference between CIM and other Reits is the composition of their portfolio and the leverage ( borrowing ) they use to finance their
Sounds like you need a math lesson. The one's bad mouthing you probably can't tell you how to add fractions.
Math 101: CIM pays 52 cents dividend/year or 13 cents per quarter. The dividend is just the interest your stock pays; once you buy your shares, each share pays you 13 cents per quarter regardless of what you paid for it.
There is no 'best' time to buy stock, you try to buy low and sell high.
At this time at what ever price you pay, you will get 13 cents per share dividend.
4 times a year and if you invest in CIM you will have free money almost after 4 years that means if you buy it for $3 or less today with their 15 cents + dividend your basic investment will be recouped in almost 4 years.
go to CIM webpage/div history:
not a lot of sympathy for dunb questions here on these message boards. Assuming you have a computer (you're here aren't you?), look at the left side of CIM summary, click on "company profile", then on that next screen, click CIM's website, then "investor relations", then "dividends".
Price drop on/after ex-div day?? Look at 1- and 2- year chart...
meantime, prepare for sarcasm, insults, jokes in re to "newbie" questions (like "when is next div pay day, ex-day, etc, do I still get the div if I sell, etc etc")
BTW, asking nicely sometimes helps, but not always.....
Hey guys. It's all right. I don't mind you calling me ignorant and stupid. At least I'm learning from you guys. When you're a newbie, you just have to put your ego to the side. I've got one more stupid question for you guys: Say an mREIT pays 20% div. and suppose I got in at $3/share and suppose the share price stayed that way until the dividend payout. That means it'll drop by $0.60 to $2.40/share. How is that like earning 20% interest if my principal just dropped 20% to get that dividend check? Again, please forgive my stupidity and ignorance on this matter. I hope you guys can enlighten me more. Take care now.
