GM Colorado Rally Concept equiped with Fox

At the 2011 Buenos Aires International Auto Show, Chevrolet revealed the Colorado Rally, a second show truck version of its next generation global midsize pickup. The debut of the adventure themed vehicle follows the reveal of the first Colorado show truck at the Bangkok Motor Show in April 2011. "Both trucks give a glimpse of the next generation Chevrolet global midsize pickup, which is of huge importance to consumers in many countries around the world. For example, in Brazil, costumers made Chevrolet's midsize truck the vehicle segment leader for 16 consecutive years," said Brad Merkel, GM Global Vehicle Line Executive.

... Combining its high performance fox racing shox shock system with 140mm travel distance and adjustable suspension height system up to 50mm, the Chevrolet concept has two bumper integrated winch systems by Smittybilt with 5.5Hp and four metric tonnes pulling capacity, with 23,000mm of aeronautic cable. Off road optimized bumpers designed with high attack angle stylized side steps and moldings confirms the wild purpose.

    • With a gas engine for the U.S. and Canada and diesels overseas, second-generation Colorado sales could exceed 100,000 units of production annually, exceeding worldwide sales goals for one of its major competitors, the recently introduced Volkswagen Amarok.

"The success of this concept in Buenos Aires will be a preview of what we see on the streets around the world in a while," said Carlos Barba, general director of design at General Motors South America.

According to manufacturing documents we've obtained, the Colorado's start of regular production is slated for Oct. 3, 2011, in Thailand and Jan. 16, 2012, in Brazil, where it will likely be sold as the S-10.

According to our sources, the code names for the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon versions for North America are 31XC and 31XG. Start of U.S. manufacturing is scheduled for around July 2014, though production of the current Colorado and Canyon are expected to end by 2012 at the plant in Shreveport, La.

(Of course, between now (concept cars) and actual production, they could change/delete the Fox Racing Shox, but if not, this could be a huge boost for Fox over the next few years.)
