This is for those who don't own CODI or regularly ask about CODI UBTI, etc.
Full year 2011 K1 reporting was as follows (per share owned the full year): Ordinary income: -0- Interest income: .6204 Ordinary dividends: .0282 Qualified dividends: .0282 Net L/T cap gain: 2.1381 (Staffmark sale) Investment Int Exp: .3411 Deduction: .4199 UBTI: .4341 (2,304 shares would put one over the $1,000 UBTI threshold)
Hey mthiker, my UBTI was actually a loss. I acquired shares throughout 2011 and don't have a weighted analysis to refer to currently, but 2750 shares in my IRA, bought between Jan and August 2011 resulted in -600.00 for UBTI.
Given I have another MLP in that IRA as well, I was thrilled that CODI will help offset the other one.
As noted, my holding were full year, so not surprising your results were different for partial year, but am surprised at a negative number. I'm guessing my positive number is paying for your negative number? I also know from past experience with CODI, that UBTI varies year-to-year, so even though I threw out a 2,000 share number, it does vary.
