I heard that Value Line is a great place to work. Is this true? Are there any job openings?
Unless you actually worked at VL, you have no idea that what went on was real. Spouses and friends look at you in disbelief when you tell them JB mistook a minus sign on a calculator for a hyphen or that she told someone that they had to pay more attention to their work than a dying mother or that she confiscated shoes hidden under desks or she would snatch back bonus checks at the last minute or that she had her father's body moved with out permission, etc.
I was reprimanded directly by her for going to a funeral because my relative "wasn't close enough."
"who died!" she squawked.
After a 20-minute harangue I told her I had to go because people were outside in the car waiting for me. I had made the mistake of stopping in at the office on the way to the mid-town tunnel so that some co-workers would know what to work on that particular day (VLers: don't even ask what this means; let's just that I was temporarily assigned outside the research department)........

Although in many respects, this is the kind of company that Buffet might once have liked, the truth is that Buffet wants to buy companies that have strong management in place that he can leave in place and to whom he can bequeath cheap capital in order to improve profitability or accelerate growth.
Unfortunately, the people who have that ability at VALU are not the ones running the company. Plus, after the SEC scandal, Buffet wouldn't want any part of this husk of a company.

95% of the stock is sewed up. When does VL buy back the last few shares and take this dog private?
Rozaroff, c'mon, you must have a few good stories from the old days at Value Line. Say whatever is on your mind about the place. Its gotta be good for a laugh or two.
Do any of the Value Line mutual funds do as well as the Value Line ranking system? I bet they don't.
I heard theres a lot fo dopes there.
Any way you cut it, the top line si going south with the new pricing plan for the main survey which now sells for $298 a year instead of the former $599 a year.
Gotta hurt a lot. When Morningstar sells more for less its gotta hurt. Morningstar is hiring too. Anyone for Chicago?
