is that really what you think or what you've been seeing other people saying. i mean lets get real here, IMAX has been around for what like 30 years doing their "immersive" technique and sure they have done ok but i mean i remember going to an IMAX theatre in 6th grade and thinking it was cool, however cool enough to pay 15 to 20 dollars for a movie thats not in 3D is not about to happen. i know and i feel like most have to know that 3D is mainly what is fueling IMAX's revenue right now. paying a big premium to see a 2D movie on a huge screen with surround sound is not anything that is going to be helping IMAX. any movie that IMAX is about to show better be in 3D or people aren't going to go.
Talk to me after Dark Knight comes out next year. Guess what? It's not in 3D and it's going to do huge numbers. Imax is not reliant on 3D to make money. Sure 3D helps add revenue but it is not needed for Imax and it is absolutely neccessary for Real D.
Lastly, when Star Trek came out it was not in 3D and Imax made plenty of money on that flick. Imax is an immersive experience period.
