So I tried the Jamba Breakfast "Rise and Berry" this morning and was very suprised at what I found. It was terrible. Here are the main problems:
-You can't eat it on the go, I had to sit down next to the subway and eat that stupid thing with a spoon
-Granola doesnt go particularly well with a frozen smoothie. Especially since you need to chew the granola. It feels like your chewing on ice...no thanks.
-By the end of the meal the smoothie is completely melted so you're forced to spoon up the granola and juice like some type of gizpacho
I dont see this going very far. Jamba breakfast has no legs.
Remember that this is a trial roll out at a limited number of locatons to see what works and what doesn't work. The feedback from the previous posters is what they are looking for. When they get cold menu right and then get the hot menu items going, I think Jamba may become more of a breakfast destination.
If you want an "on the go" breakfast from Jamba - try the Chunky Smoothie. The granola is mixed in with the yogurt, fruit and soy milk and you can actually drink it through the straw. No spoon is required. I had one and it actually works.
I, too, have tried the Rise and Berry and some of the other new Jamba breakfast offerings.
While driving, I sometimes take the cap off and sip it instead of using a spoon but usually I just wait until I get to my destination to eat it.
Granola is granola to me and it tastes just fine mashed up. That and the added peanut butter make it more like a meal.
People in Hawaii apparently really enjoy the granola topped Acai smoothie, which they have been serving for a while now. In Los Angeles, I have a couple of friends who enjoy the new granola toppers especially the Mango one.
Obviously, these items aren't for everybody but I would think they have a good chance at doing well.
yeah my gf also had a similar reaction, she didn't think they were spectacular. She also mentioned that she was one of the only 2 people that ordered the breakfast yogurts, while the rest of the people waiting (in line / for their drink) ordered regular smoothies. Hence smoothies can = breakfast to some.
