In an effort to stimulate a meaningful discussion regarding the buyout of IN I ask the question: Will this deal close and when? I can't find any informative news or discussions on the subject.
The return on an annualized basis, if it closes by 6/30, is very good and I would like to invest more money if the odds look good. Are any of the arbitrage funds buying?
Looks like there has been a snag with the FTC. In a new SEC 8-K filing Intermec is no longer saying it will close the deal this week. They are out in Q3 now:
On June 24, 2013, Intermec, Inc. ("Intermec") announced that Intermec and Honeywell International Inc. ("Honeywell") are continuing to work diligently to receive regulatory approval from the Federal Trade Commission ("FTC") for Honeywell's acquisition of Intermec (the "Merger"). The parties remain committed to closing the Merger, with the goal of completing the transaction as soon as possible in third quarter 2013.
I was about to post the same question. By my count, still need US, EU, and Turkey regulatory approvals. The drop dead date is June 10, but that of course can be extended. Neither IN nor HON is providing much info regarding progress that I can see...
I agree there is not a lot of news forthcoming. I read that the US government asked for additional information regarding the acquisition and that extended the time before approval, if approval is ever granted. I'm not sure of the extension date. Does anyone know that date?
