    Rollercoaster Ride

What a rollercoaster ride it is owning this stock! Tracking the trades based on the overwhelming daily volumes is enough to make me lose my breath (9,700 shares today alone!).

    • Re-read my Post 106. Every day, CNBC shows the
long term care sector as getting beat up. ACR is
simply suffering as being in that sector. But the fact
that only 15% of revenues are from nursing care source
reflects that this company is not "the norm" in the
sector. 82% of revenues are from assisted living and
independent living sources. Guess we'll just have to wait for
next earnings to hopefully see proof that "all is
well" with ACR. Just my thoughts. BUT...I bought in at
      10 1/4!

    • Why has ACR dropped so low? Did I make a mistake buying a strong retirement community company at a low price? Anybody know what is going on?

    • Yahoo lists $8.92 as book value. The real-estate alone should make ACR worth more than current price.

    • The nursing home sector is really getting beat
up; BUT, this company, in the sector, is somewhat
unique in that they are not impacted by the factors
driving the sector down to the extent that many other
companies in the sector are. Revenues from independent
      living residents account for 67% of total revenue;
revenues for assisted living residents for 15%; nursing
care revenues account for only 15% of total revenue.
And 95% of revenues last year were attributable to
      private pay sources.
SO...I see this as an excellent
ACR buying opportunity. I bought this morning. By the
way, I visited one of their communities in Florida
last week and was VERY impressed with what I saw.

    • Help?? Issue some PR - anything will do, "more and more people are moving to assisted living, etc."

    • What gives? Have people stoped getting old? Is there some bad news we don't know about?

    • Maybe ACR should put internet day-trading
terminals in all retirement communities to pump up the
volume on ACR. This is such a quiet stock, I had to buy
500 shares of just to have a
rollercoaster ride on ONE of my stocks.

      Actually, the
Assisted Living home my aunt is at in Pleasant Hill
California, they do have internet access, and the one
terminal is quite crowded. Does anyone know if ACR offers
      internet connections?

    • Yes that WAS quite a day yesterday - not even the
last minute trade to bring the price back up 1/16th.
By the way - has anyone else noticed how the stock
will often be down 1/16 - 1/8 all day, and then a 3:59
trade will bring it back up?

    • Well at least I can go away on vacation a few
weeks and not worry about ACR. I guess it will just sit
there until the next earnings report. Unlike other
companies, where customers might like to invest in a product
they use, ACR's residents probably aren't looking for
a long term investment - BUT, the children of
residents might be a good market for this stock. Perhaps
ACR should send some type of low-key letter
mentioning that they are a public company, etc. to residents
      and their children.
