Engine maker complains of ethanol side effects, releases additive

    thonline.c***m/biztimes/articles/article_00374306-f1b3-11e2-b5f5-0019bb30f31a.html

"Briggs and other engine makers lost court challenges aimed at blocking the implementation of E15, yet say they’re not against biofuels. They’ve tested isobutanol as an alternative to E15. Like ethanol, it can be made from corn and other organic feedstock.

“We are fully supportive of more biofuels coming into the industry. It’s just that we don’t think ethanol, per se, is necessarily the best one,“ Timm said."

    • The news release we just had about the Coast guard testing isobutanol makes it seem like GEVO has to develop a market for isobutanol.

I think this is probably the biggest miss on GEVO. Their market is already there and waiting. It goes beyond fuel and it is gargantuan. Acceptance of isobutanol has been there for decades from many industries, just no cost effective supply. The problem for industries other than fuel is that initial supply is going to go to fuel because of the gov't kicker RIN.

      Sentiment: Buy

      • I will be unable to post going forward. You have been one of the most level-headed longs on this board good luck to you and all the longs. The institutions, mutual funds etc...took out insurance(puts) on their buys regarding GEVO. They will determine the orderly workout of their investments. We can see that now. Buy here and a conservative prognosis going forward is: oct...2.50 Nov...3.50 dec...4.50 jan...5.50 may 10.00 good luck
