These drive-in Sonics are fine for Florida and California but here in Illinois it's been freezing cold for the past month! Why not build the Sonics in cold weather states with some inside seating? I drive by MCD, WEN, SNS and Hardees everyday and they are busy but the Sonic parking lot is empty. This whole concept of a drive-in style just doesn't work when you have 4 months of winter slowing down your sales.
Some people dont want to get out of their cars, because its cold, or whatever other reason. Maybe they want to listen to the radio and eat. Maybe they arent dressed right, who knows. If its not cold when they are driving, its still not that cold in the car setting. If it is, start the car for a minute. This company is moving west anyway, to AZ, NV, CA, NM. Thats a huge market. coursonc

That's exactly why I've been loading up at these prices. They just opened their first store in the SF Bay Area in Hayward, Ca. and the place is a huge success. All they have to do is open another 200 stores in Ca. and they will double earnings. They only have 14 stores opened in Ca. currently. The growth potential is huge here in the west..
I can certainly see folks wanting some sort of indoor situation in the cold states although..
Here in AR and in TX ,you can drive in or eat in, You go to a table look at the menu , Push a botton , tell them what you want , and they bring it to you, They also have table outside set up the same way, You can sit outside when it's nice or do the usual sit in your car, We also have car shows on Saturday nights 9 months out of the year , 100 to 150 people every Sat night
They do have a drive through window but who wants to eat in your vehicle when it's below zero and if you take the food home it's ice cold. Inside seating is a must in cold weather areas, Mr. Hudson needs to get his act together or let some new blood step up!
